2011 Start-Up Business of the Year!

Wakulla County Chamber of Commerce 2011 Startup Of The Year Award

We did it!!!

Last night The Works was awarded the Wakulla County Chamber of Commerce 2011 Start-up Business of the Year Award. We can’t tell you how much this means to us. We are humbled yet proud of this achievement. It stands as a confirmation of not only all the hard work we have put into build and growing The Works, but more importantly it’s a confirmation that the ideals and tenets of coworking have been widely accepted in this great county we live and work in.

First and foremost, we would like to thank all of customers who have come to love and support us and spread the word about The Works. As cliché as it may sound, we couldn’t have done any of this without you. We love it when our new customers walk in that door with what we call “the look”. It’s that “aha!” moment that they “get it”. And it’s always special when our regulars come in and we get a chance to catch up with you over a cup of coffee. We also love chatting with you over on Facebook and Twitter where it’s always fun.

Chuck here.

I’d like to take a moment to thank my staff – my girls as I affectionately call them –  for their incredible work and commitment.

Summer, words can’t begin to describe how lucky I feel to have you as my right-hand woman. In my fifteen years of management in one form or another I have rarely come across someone with such intuition, passion and dedication. Your talent to generate and execute new ideas is unparalleled. Lastly, and probably most importantly, your abilities to keep me on task, center me when I’m all over the place, and listen when I need to let things out deserve a huge debt of gratitude. Thank you so much!

I also can’t thank Katelyn and Jaquda enough. Both exemplify the perfect employee to have in such a unique establishment. Whether it’s helping our customers understand the concept of coworking and all its advantages or guiding them through a coffee, tea, and espresso menu with so many choices, they have the spirit most bosses only dream of.

We would also like to thank our great neighbors who have been so supportive of our fledgling business. We hope our presence has also benefited them, too. Same goes for the Wakulla County Chamber of Commerce. We are very proud to be a member of a great organization that gives back to us in so many ways.

Finally, and most importantly, I would like to thank my wonderful wife Mollie and our children, Oliver and Ruari. Your love and support through good times and bad, through missed dinners without complaint, and for dealing with Daddy’s crazy schedule is overwhelming. It fuels me every morning and makes every day feel like Friday.

So what’s next? We promise to keep working as hard as we can to live up to our mantra: “We believe that great people and great coffee in a great place builds a greater Wakulla”. Along the way we’ll add new things to the menu (bagels, anyone?), grow our membership and networking opportunities, and give back as much as we can to our beloved county.

Again, deepest thanks,

Chuck Robinson and The Works staff.

PS In the spirit of openness, one of the tenets of coworking, you can see the form we submitted for our nomination here. It gives yet another insight into the philosophy of The Works.

The Sunday Times

Ah, Sundays. A day of worship. A day of rest and play. A day of (groan) house chores. We know that Sundays can be your busiest day of the week.

Truthfully, Sundays at The Works have been quiet. That’s great for those looking for a little peace so they can study, catch up on some work or just relax and read the paper over a nice cup of coffee. We, of course, are here to bring you “great coffee in a great place” but with just a slight adjustment in our Sunday hours. Beginning on Sunday March 13 our new Sunday hours will be from 12 noon to 5:00 pm. We are also lowering our coworking daypasses on Sundays to $10.

To liven up Sundays we would like to jump-start some initiatives we have on the back burners. But before we do so, we want to turn to you, our community of awesome fans and followers, about any ideas you would like to see come to fruition not just at The Works but in Wakulla as a whole. We’re crowdsourcing idea generation and we want to hear from you.

In the comments section below tell us and your neighbors what sparks of genius you have. How do you want to change the world starting in our neck of the woods? Or, how would you like The Works to do things differently or how can we add to the services we already provide? Do you want to give a shout out to a charity or organization you’re actively involved in that you feel needs more attention? Whatever your story is please don’t hesitate to share. We look forward to hearing from all of you.

Thanks in advance from your friends at The Works!

Grand Opening This Saturday!

We’re finally having our Grand Opening this Saturday January 15, 2011!

Our Grand Opening will be an all day event with the official Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting around 12:00 noon. We will be giving away door prizes, gift certificates and other giveaways throughout the day along with our great house roast just for stopping by to say hello!

Our vision for The Works is to bring business people and citizens together to cowork in an environment that is both professional and relaxing. We would like for you to take this opportunity to explore our cafe, conference room and Think Pods as well as ask questions about what we are all about.

Imagine a place where you can go, say a home office away from home, where you can enjoy gourmet coffee and have your very own Think Pod to work from. The Think Pods give you the ability to work at your own pace without any interuptions. We offer a variety of membership levels, that accomodate each and every persons’ needs. As a member you are given perks with each membership we offer. We are here to accomodate your needs. We work for YOU!

Of course all work and no play make Jack and Jill…well, you get the idea. That’s why we’ve created a sophisticated, yet relaxed atmosphere to enjoy your coffee, catch up on the news or some reading, surf the Web, or meet up with some friends. Everybody deserves time to unwind and we hope you might spend some of that precious time with us!

We look forward to meeting with you and speaking with you about we have in store for our future in Wakulla County.

We here at The Works, would like to thank you for welcoming us to Wakulla and we would also like to send a special thanks to our surrounding neighbors for your support and cooperation through our opening. Please support your local businesses.
